Do you know how to tie your shoes?

Donald Nathanson coined the term "The Philadelphia System" with the view to mold a therapeutic system of thought that would apply Affect Psychology to the clinic. I take this to be a work in progress.

Do you know how to tie your shoes?

Does everything have to do with affect?

Here this might be approached form the standpoint of "script." Just about anything is a "script."

Humans "do" things in the world. We are motivated vis-a-vi affect once stimulated by the world and then we "do." We learn habits to free up our consciousness to do other things.

Vic Kelly asks people to identify which sock they put on fist in the morning and then put on the other one. It is uncomfortable to do. This is a "script."

Here he learns a new way to tie his shoes and teaches us.

Then, of course, much interest and shame.
Terry Moore: How to tie your shoes | Video on
TED Talks Terry Moore found out he'd been tying his shoes the wrong way his whole life. In the spirit of TED, he takes the stage to share a better way. (Historical note: This was the very first 3-minute audience talk given from the TED stage, in 2005.)
