For a long tme I have commented that I have noticed the use of the language of shame and humiliation in many media formats. One of the most notiable is the proceedural crime show. "Criminal Minds" is an example. A FBI team hunts down serial killers. It is interesting to me as for the profilers to be up to snuff with todays psychology they have to deal with shame and humiliation and in the majority of the episodes some type of revenge is in play.

is a straight forward arguenment about the consequences of emotional abandonment.
