The Election

I have always thought Joe Biden has a lot going for him. He is that is probably pretty much what he seems to be. He is "a family man" a man of "service" a man who believes what he believes and follows through on that. He has form all accounts not made himself rich. He has form all accounts been faithful to his family and constituency. He has been, as they say, "vetted" . There is that peccadillo of plagiarism in the past. All of the qualities he exemplifies, on the positive side, are so much what we need I want to strongly highlight them before I say what I going to say. People are complex. We all need to ground ourselves in something. We all need to believe and hold ourselves together with something. So we all have our inconsistencies so Senator Biden has his inconsistencies. That is, he, in one of his appearances he said, I believe in recounting words of wisdom form his mother or grandmother , he quoted that oft quoted adage that God never gives us a cross we can't bear.

This does drive me crazy!

So let's see, people don't crack?

There is no mental instability?

Emotion does not out run reason? And if it does you are, what? A sinner?

Story:

Only son, 21 year old killed Iraq. Father 50, suicides.

Story:

40 year old alcoholic dying in Intensive care. History: Given alcohol since age five by parents so he would sleep.

Story:

I am called and notified of a prostitutes overdose. My card is on her body. History: Molested since early childhood.

No, what are we thinking? Such adages are so we do not have to empathize. Do not have to care. They are so ironic. The Democratic party. The party of caring? We think? I certainly believe it is but we have a ways to go.

LIPSTICK

Postby drlynch on Sat Sep 06, 2008 5:01 pm

What is the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull?

A: LIPSTICK

Some might wonder, as a physician and therapist, whether I should comment on the political situation at all. Let my opinion be known. I struggled with this for a long time. I don't any more. I could say that I am more and more "a political" but I feel uneasy about that as I don't see how one can be a apolitical. To be alive is to be political. "Not to decide is to decide" and all that. To say anything can be humiliating and to be silent can be humiliating.

I hope these comments are a "critique" more than anything on specifics of the process.

I certainly think Tomkins certainly showed his hand as a "Humanist" at the end of the day. His bias was definitely toward the humanist form of child rearing as apposed to the normative way. Foster the child's "interests". Do not humiliate. The "left" certainly can come around to being just as fascist as the right but when moderate they exemplify, seventy per cent of the time, the humanistic view, more so then the right.

So a comment on candidates' Palin's speech:

So this gives a worse name to Pit Bulls than they already have? So Pit Bull owners should be happy. Right?

They say they are such really loving dogs or should be.

Other wise I don't get it. I guess I am dense or over think. Well, I just don't get such statements so what? we are suppose to rejoice in approaching a mother that might rip our heads off? Again I don't get it. I don't think it funny, cute, interesting? Nothing?

No, I guess I just don't buy into the whole "competition" business. Certainly if this is what it engenders. Us against them.

This is the kind of thing Lloyd DeMause refers to with his "Killer Mommy" formulation as far as I understand it. Referring to the overwhelming abuse that has been perpetrated on children through out history. The "killer mommy" syndrome. So we have all these images throughout history of "demon" women.

And we are quick to say that men, when they come into the picture, then do no better when the children are about age seven.

So I try never to go near Pit Bulls as I don't know what will happen. The same for Dobermans unfortunately. The Republicans do themselves such a disservice or are they this mean spirited? What are they telling us. Don't come near me or I'll rip your head off? What image is this? Please tell me? Anyone. Was there any of this imagery form the other side.

Yes, there was some sacrificial imagery from Joe Bidan but at to sacrifice is one thing to attack is another. Neither are ideal however. How about some mutual help.
